Nangang was founded in 1958. In December 1993, Nanjing Iron and Steel Works carried out company system reform, established Nanjing Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., and set up Nanjing Iron and Steel Group. In September 2000, Nangang successfully listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. In April 2003, Nangang Group Co., Ltd. carried out the "triple action" reform, and jointly established Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. with Shanghai Fuxing Group. In September 2010, Nangang was listed as a whole. At present, Nangang has a comprehensive production capacity of 10 million tons of steel per year. In recent years, the main economic indicators of Nangang have been in the forefront of the whole industry, and the comprehensive economic benefit index has always been in the top three of the industry. The company has won the "Asian Quality Award", "National Quality Award", "National Civilization Unit", "National Customer Satisfaction Enterprise", "China's Best Honest Enterprise" and other important honors, and has maintained the title of "Civilization Unit" in Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City for 20 consecutive years. In 2014, at brand audio products were selected in conference rooms and multi-function halls of Nangang Group.
